Swirling Snakes

My husband had emptied the dishwasher and put all the dishes and silverware away. Yay!  I was grateful that he likes doing this chore. Later, when I opened the drawer … what? The phone charger cord, which is kept neatly coiled on the side of the tray, so we never lose it, was wrapped around the silverware. Was I looking at an abstract work of art? The cord, like a skinny white snake, swirled in and out between knives, forks, and spoons and spanned the width of the tray. How did he do that? I knew that he always simply tossed the cord in the drawer and the silverware, too, and that his creative cutlery display was not planned. I figured I could have fun with this, so, I wrote a note that said, “Really?” and placed it on top of the silverware. My husband never said a word. The next time I opened the drawer after he unloaded the dishwasher, the silverware was stacked neatly in the tray. In fact the knives, forks, and spoons sparkled. No phone cord looping around utensils. Nope. Nothing out of place. Hmm. This was no fun! I missed the “snake.” But I did write a note that said, “Nice job!” I hope some day I get to open the drawer again and say, “Yay! The snake is back!” Just toss the silverware in there, Hubby, and have fun! You never know. I could take a picture and have it displayed on the wall of a museum some day. But alas, no more swirling snakes. Hmm … maybe I need to put away the silverware. Maybe I’ll get a note! Let’s see now …
